Carry out these steps to turn off router firewall for gaming:

  • Step 1: First, connect your Wi-Fi router to a computer with the help of an Ethernet
  • Step 2: Next, power up the Wi-Fi router and the computer.
  • Step 3: Ensure that you have firmly plugged the Ethernet cable into the router’s LAN port and the computer’s network port.
  • Step 4: If you have connected the router to a Windows computer, click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 5: Type ‘cmd’ in the search panel and press Enter .
  • Step 6: Give a right-click on the Command Prompt app from the search result and click on Run as administrator .
  • Step 7: In the Command Prompt window, type ‘ipconfig /all’ and press the Enter
  • Step 8: Navigate to the Default Gateway section and note down the router’s IP address.
  • Step 9: If you are using Mac , click the Apple menu available at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 10: Select the System Preferences  option from the pull-down menu and click on the Network
  • Step 11: In the Network window, select your Wi-Fi network name and click the Advanced
  • Step 12: Click the TCP/IP  tab and note down your router’s IP address in the Router
  • Step 13: Next, open the default browser on your computer and enter the router’s IP address in the URL
  • Step 14: Press the Enter key and enter your login credentials to access the router’s administrative interface.
  • Step 15: In the router’s settings page, click the Advanced settings button and navigate to the Firewall
  • Step 16: Deselect the firewall protection checkbox for the gaming console.This will turn off the router’s firewall for gaming.
  • Step 17: If you wish to turn off the router’s firewall for all the devices, click the Disable button next to the Firewall field or toggle off the Firewall
