Tenda FH1201 is a dual-band wireless router that has a link rate of 1200 Mbps. This router is equipped with high powered amplifiers, external antennas, and internal antennas. To perform the Tenda FH1201 router setup, proceed with the following step-by-step instructions.

Placement Of The Router:

  • Do not place the router closer to ceiling fans, home security systems, and microwaves.
  • Keep the router away from the solid metal door and aluminum studs.
  • The router must be placed away from interfering objects like glass, insulated walls, fish tanks, mirrors, etc.
  • After placing the router in an accessible location, continue the steps to set up the Tenda FH1201 router.

Hardware Installation Of Your Tenda Router:

Step 1

  • Connect your router (WAN port) to the Internet (modem) using an Ethernet cable.

Step 2

  • Connect another Ethernet cable between the router’s LAN port and your computer’s Ethernet port.

Connect the router’s power adapter to the power source and let it turn on.

Configure TCP/IP Settings On Your Computer (Windows 7):

Once you have done the hardware setup of your router, you have to configure it, so that it could get connected to the Internet. However, before configuring the Tenda Fh1201 router setup, you must configure the Internet settings on your computer that is connected to the router.

Step 1

  • Type control panel in the Windows search bar and select the same from the search result.

  • Choose the Network and Internet option, select the Network and Sharing Center option, and click the Change adapter settings option.

  • Locate your Ethernet connection and right-click it.
  • Once you click the Properties option, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP4).

  • Click the following radio buttons.
  • Obtain an IP address automatically
  • Obtain DNS server address automatically
  • Save the altered settings by clicking the OK button.
  • Continue with the following steps to perform the Tenda FH1201 router setup.

Configure Your Router Settings:

Step 1

On your computer, open the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser or any other browser.

Enter (router’s IP address) in the browser’s address bar.

Once you see the router’s login window on the screen, enter the password and click the Login button.

When you see the Your Internet connection type is DHCP message, click the OK button and proceed the Tenda router setup further.

  • In the Internet Connection Setup field, select the PPPoE or Dynamic option.
  • Note: For other Internet connection type, click the Advanced link.

  • If you have chosen the Dynamic option, it will automatically obtain the IP address from your Internet Service Provider.
  • If you select the PPPoE option, you have to type your username and password in the ISP Username and ISP Password fields, respectively.

Note: You can get the username and password from your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Step 6

  • By default, the wireless band is set as 2.4G.
  • Change the wireless security key and click the Save button.
  • Now, you have finished the Internet setup of the Tenda FH1201 router.

Verify Your Internet Connectivity:

Step 1

  • Wait until the Status screen appears.
  • If you see the Connected message in the Connection Status field, it indicates that you have performed the Tenda Fh1201 router setup correctly.

If you see the Cable improperly connected message in the Connection Status field, you have to check if the Ethernet cable is correctly connected between your router and the modem.

Wireless Connection:

Once done with the initial setup of the Tenda FH1201 router, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable connected between the router and the computer.

On Windows 7:

Step 1

On your computer, navigate to the notification area and click the Network icon.

  • From the available SSIDs, select your Tenda router’s network name.
  • If necessary, select the Connect automatically checkbox.
  • Click the Connect button.

In the Security key field, type your network key and click the OK button.

  • Wait until you see the Connected message next to your wireless network name (SSID).
  • After completing the Tenda FH1201 router setup, you can connect your wireless devices to your router and access the Internet.
