If your router doesn't recognize ethernet cable, perform the following troubleshooting steps.

Reboot your modem and router

  • Step 1:Disconnect the Ethernet cable that is connected between your modem and your router.
  • Step 2:Leave it for two minutes.
  • Step 3:Plug the Ethernet cable into the wireless router and modem again.

WAN or LAN port

  • Step 1:With the router powered up, check if the ports are working properly by connecting the Ethernet cable between the router’s LAN port and the router’s WAN port.
  • Step 2:If the LAN port is not working, try to use a different LAN port.

Reset your router

  • Step 1:On the router’s rear panel, press and hold the Reset button for 30 seconds.

Ethernet connection

  • Step 1:Remove the Ethernet cable that has been connected between your Windows computer and the router.
  • Step 2:Re-establish the wired connection between them.

  • Step 4:If the status of your Local Area Network connection is disabled, right-click your connection and click Enable.

  • Step 6:If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the network adapter by performing the following steps.
  • Step 7:Launch the Device Manager screen.
  • Step 8:Click the arrow button beside the Network Adapter option.
  • Step 9:Right-click your network adapter and click the Uninstall option.
  • Step 10:If a prompt message appears, click the OK option.
  • Step 11:Now, the network adapter will be uninstalled from the computer.
  • Step 12:Once done, restart the Windows computer.
  • Step 13:The network adapter will be installed automatically.
