Netgear router lights flashing problem

Whenever you turn on your Netgear router, you can see the power LED button blinking for a second and turning green or white. But, if it flashes for a long time or does not turn into green or white, it becomes a significant issue. It might be because of the obsolete Firmware version of the Netgear product.

The following steps must be carried out to resolve the problem with the Netgear router:

  • Step 1:Use the standard adapter that was provided along with the Netgear router or change the existing adapter.
  • Step 2:Reconnect the Netgear router to a different electrical outlet.
  • Step 3:Perform a Factory Reset on the router by pressing and holding the Reset button.
  • Step 4:If the problem does not resolve, connect the router to the computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Step 5:Open the Windows desktop and navigate to the Start menu.
  • Step 6:Go to the Control Panel and select the Network and Sharing Center option.
  • Step 7:Select the Change adapter settings option and give a right-click on the Wi-Fi or Local Area Connection.
  • Step 8:Choose Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties  Use the following IP address.
  • Step 9:To assign Static IP address on your computer, type the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default gateway, and DNS server for your computer and click on the OK button.
  • Step 10:Now, open the Command Prompt on your Windows by typing ‘cmd’ in the search panel.
  • Step 11:Type the ‘ping’ command in the window and tap the Enter key.
  • Step 12:If you get replies for your command in the Command prompt window, update the Firmware to the latest version or reinstall it on your Netgear router.
  • Step 13:You can download the latest firmware version for your Netgear router from the manufacturer’s site. To access the Internet, you must connect the computer to the modem directly via Ethernet cable or use a different mode of network connection.
  • Step 14:After downloading the Firmware, extract the file from the downloaded folder and run it.
  • Step 15:Now, Restart your Netgear router and connect it to the computer device for updating the Firmware.
  • Step 16:Make sure to set your computer configuration back to obtain the IP address.
