To know how to configure a virtual access point on your router, follow the instructions given below.

  • Step 1:First, access the web-based setup page of your router.
  • Step 2:To open the web-based setup page, enter the IP address of your router in the address bar.
  • Step 3:The IP address of the router may vary depending on the router. Make sure to use the correct IP address as well as the username and password.
  • Step 4:After opening the web-based interface setup page of your router, select the Configuration option followed by the Wireless option.
  • Step 5:Click the Virtual Access Points (VAP) option to display the Virtual Access Point window.
  • Step 6:Set the frequency to 2.4 GHz from the Radio drop-down menu.
  • Step 7:Fill the VLAN ID field. Now, enter the name of your wireless network.
  • Step 8:When you want to enable the SSID broadcast SSID, checkmark the box next to the Broadcast SSID option.
  • Step 9:Choose either None, WPA Personal, or WPA Enterprise from the Security Modes drop-down list.
  • Step 10:Select either Disabled, Local, Radius from the Mac Authentication Type drop-down menu.
  • Step 11:To save the configuration settings, select the Save button.
