Execute the following instruction to open the ports on a router.

  • Step 1:First, search for the router’s IP address on the manual provided to you by the manufacturer or on the label attached to the router.
  • Step 2:Windows users can click the Start button Settings Network & Internet View your network properties.
  • Step 3:Mac users can launch the Apple menu System Preferences Network Advanced TCP/IP.
  • Step 4:After getting the IP address of the router, open a new web browser, type the IP address in the search bar, and hit Enter to open the Login page of the router.
  • Step 5:Type the username and the password, and then click the login button.
  • Step 6:In the left pane on the main setup page, you can find options such as Forwarding, Applications, Gaming, Virtual Servers, Firewall, Protected Setup. Click the Forwarding tab.
  • Step 7:Now, open the port that you prefer by entering the name of the application, Type or Service type(TCP, UDP), Inbound or Start (enter the port number, lowest number), Private or End(re-type the port number, highest number).
  • Step 8:Enter the private IP address of your computer in the IP address field. Finally, click the Save button to apply the settings.
