How To Make Router Bridge Mode

The bridge mode helps the router to connect to many devices without compromising the network performance. Two Wi-Fi routers are needed to implement the bridge mode.

Via Ethernet Connection:

  • Step 1:Connect the internet cable to the WAN port of your first router, which is the main router.
  • Step 2:Then, connect the computer to the LAN port of the first router with another Ethernet cable.
  • Step 3:On the computer, open a web browser and enter the IP address of the first router to open the first router’s login page.
  • Step 4:Type the router’s user name and password to enter the router setup page.
  • Step 5:Under the Advanced settings menu, configure the DHCP settings and modify the DHCP range if you want to set up LAN-WAN connection.
  • Step 6:For LAN-LAN connection, let the DHCP settings be as such.
  • Step 7:Next, connect the LAN port of the second router to the computer with another Ethernet cable.
  • Step 8:Now, disconnect the first router and your computer if required, and connect your second router to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
  • Step 9:Open the second router’s configuration page by using the username and password.
  • Step 10:Go to the Network settings menu and set the IP address to coincide with the first router’s IP address. See that the subnet mask of the second router is the same as the first router, just increase the second-last digit of the IP address by 1.
  • Step 12:For LAN-WAN connection, you have to change the second router’s WAN IP to
  • Step 13:Open the DHCP settings of the second router and disable the DHCP server for using LAN-LAN connection. For LAN-WAN, set the DHCP server address range should fall within to
  • Step 14:Make sure the wireless channels for the two routers do not interfere.
  • Step 15:Connect the LAN ports of the first and the second router using another Ethernet cable. For LAN-WAN, plug the Ethernet cable between the LAN port of the first router and the WAN port of the second router.
  • Step 16:Then go-ahead to connect the devices to the first router and the second router depending on the type of connection you have set up.
