How To Connect To Router From Outside Network?

We usually connect to a router and access its web-based interface to configure the router settings. Sometimes, to change the wireless SSID and its password, we would access the router. Not only to change the wireless broadcast settings, but to make any changes to your network, you must access your router. This will be possible if you are connected to your router’s network. But, if you are not connected to your router’s network and you still want to access your router to make some changes to your network, then you can make use of the remote management feature of your router. If this feature is enabled, then you can access your route’s web-based interface, even if you are not connected to the router directly and you can connect to router from outside network.

The steps to enable the Remote Management feature on a TP-link wireless router are given below.

  • Step 1:Connect your computer to the TP-link router and open a web browser.
  • Step 2:Enter the router IP in the address bar and press the Enter button.
  • Step 3:Enter the default login credentials in the respective fields.
  • Step 4:When the TP-Link router page opens, click the Security tab.
  • Step 5:Select the Remote Management option on the left side of the page.
  • Step 6:The Remote management function is disabled because of the default Port 80 and the IP address set to
  • Step 7:If you wish to access the router remotely from a device with a static IP address outside the network, then enter the IP address of that device in the Remote Management IP Address field.
  • Step 8:If you wish to access your router from any device outside the network, then enter in the Remote Management IP Address field.
  • Step 9:Finally, click the Save button.
  • Step 10:Now, you can connect to router from outside network using its WAN IP address and the port 8080. For example, if the WAN IP address of your router is, then to access the router, type in the browser of the remote device.
